Overview
Islamic Studies is the comprehensive academic and scholarly examination of Islam as a religion, civilization, and global culture. It is a rich, interdisciplinary field that moves beyond theology to explore the full spectrum of Muslim beliefs, practices, history, and societies.
Our program delves into Islam’s foundational texts (the Qur’an and Hadith), its deep legal and ethical frameworks (Shari’ah), its profound spiritual traditions (Sufism), and its vast 1,400-year history. We are dedicated to fostering a deep, critical, and nuanced understanding of Islamic civilization in all its diversity, from its origins to its dynamic role in the contemporary world.
