DEPARTMENT OF PSYCHOLOGY

INTRODUCTION

Psychology is scientific study of human mind and its functions affecting behavior. It attempts to comprehend human nature, society and culture to understand, manage and predict human behavior. Psychology is a highly diverse field encompassing almost all fields of life. Hence, scope of psychology extends to a number of areas such as teaching, health and wellbeing, management and industry, sports and media as well as everyday life. Department of Psychology offers BS 4 years, MSc 2 years (Morning) and MPhil Psychology (2 years weekend) programs. Psychological sciences provide you understanding of a wide range of perspectives on psychology and research methods. We arrange seminars and workshops to promote interactive and supportive learning environment. Our BS and MSc programs lay a solid foundation for later MPhil study to become a professional psychologist. Psychology also helps you better understand yourself and others and live a better life. Graduates with psychology degree can work in education, and health sectors as well as NGOs and public sector organizations.

Preparing individuals capable of meeting contemporary and future challenges in a highly dynamic mode based on professional and ethical grounds. 

Mission :

The mission of the Department of Psychology is to produce knowledgeable educationists, researchers, practitioners, morally sound professionals, and constructive human beings and expert professionals.

Goals :

  1. Our objectives revolve around expanding knowledge, improving mental health, and fostering the growth of professionals dedicated to understanding and helping others through research, educational programs, and mentorship.
  2. To apply knowledge to help individuals and communities to improve their well-being by developing effective interventions and treatment methods. It plays a role in public education by disseminating research findings, debunking myths, and providing evidence-based information to the general public.
  3. Working towards enhancing educational practices, optimizing workplace dynamics, and promoting healthy interpersonal and intra-personal relationships by keeping intact the cultural, racial, and gender differences ensure that psychological theories and practices are inclusive and representative of diverse populations.
  4. Psychology departments collaborate with other disciplines, such as neuroscience, sociology, anthropology, and education. This interdisciplinary approach allows for a broader understanding of complex phenomena and encourages integrating multiple perspectives.
  5. We assist the enrolled students in resolving their adjustment problems related to work-family conflicts and helping them foster professional placement through career counseling.
  6.  We are connecting the currently enrolled students with alumni to create networking opportunities for them to learn from the experiences and insights of those who have already established careers in psychology.
